Bonnefoi, Marc. S., D.V.M., Ph.D., D.A.B.T.

Dr. Marc Bonnefoi is Global Head of Drug Safety Evaluation at sanofi-aventis and Scientific Site Director for the Bridgewater site in NJ, USA.  As head of global Drug Safety Evaluation, Dr. Bonnefoi is responsible for the nonclinical safety evaluation of all sanofi-aventis drug candidates and the management of toxicology, pathology, and safety pharmacology operations in all sanofi-aventis sites worldwide.  As Scientific Site Director, he represents the R&D leadership in Bridgewater, a site that has thorough research and development activities.  Marc Bonnefoi was previously Vice President in charge of Drug Safety Evaluation at Aventis and VP responsible for Worldwide Nonclinical Safety Assessment and Laboratory Animal Resources at Rhone-Poulenc Rorer. He started his career in the pharmaceutical industry in 1991 when he joined Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, where he held various positions in the U.S. and France. Prior to this, he was a visiting scientist at the Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology, Research Triangle Park, NC.  He came to CIIT in 1989 from the Veterinary School of Toulouse, France, where, as an Assistant Professor, he taught for several years on food hygiene, pharmacy, pharmacology, and toxicology.  During that time, he served as an expert to the French government for the appraisal of veterinary drugs.  After receiving the doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1984, Bonnefoi was also awarded the title of Agrégé of the French veterinary schools (tenure equivalent) in 1989, and earned his Ph.D. in toxicology from the University of Toulouse, France in 1993.  Dr. Bonnefoi is a diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology.
