Greater emphasis is placed on the validation of new preclinical safety assessment tools and this has become ‘the’ major hurdle to overcome before commercialization. In turn, this has led to the ironic situation where a novel assay cannot be adapted until enough data is collected to validate the method, but adequate data to validate the test cannot be collected until pharma companies use the assay.
